Sunday’s Best

Growing up, the kickoff of spring was Easter Sunday. It officially confirmed that the cold dreary winter season had passed. I remember how anxious my sisters and I were to show off our new spring dresses at Sunday School and later at grandma’s. We marched behind our mother like little chicks wearing bright ribbons in our freshly styled hair. One of the most exciting parts of getting all dressed up was carrying our new pocket books stuffed with white lace gloves. And it was never settled until we slipped into white pantehose and patent leather dress shoes.

Everyone was bright and represented the new season. My mother was just as excited it seemed to us. She spent the entire Saturday running around town finalizing outfits for five children, herself and daddy prepping diligently for all the Sunday activities starting with sunrise service and finally our Easter speech. LOL!! To say the least, the day was very LONG but thrilling! Now that I have a daughter, It’s hard to image how my mother made it all happen. Regardless, I am forever grateful for the memories and traditions.

This look with my daughter, pays tribute to my childhood memories of Sunday traditions on Easter Morning. We went for lots of colors and traditional pieces like my birdcage feathered hat and froufrou dresses. However, we went completely rogue with a bright orange laced crop top for me and sneakers for my daughter.

I hope you are inspired to create fun new spring traditions and celebrate old ones as you embrace this new season of change in your life and “Begin Again.
