How I am Raising My Winter Style Bar

Happy New Year! I am excited about 2019 and I am planning to keep it that way. Having a short burst of inspiration won’t produce long term results and success. No matter how well we did yesterday we gotta keep making exciting plans for the future as we enjoy every moment of today.

If you have been following my blog for any length of time you know I am not ONLY about fashion. As much as the way you look matters, having peace, feeling accomplished and hitting goals is equally important if not more. What you wear dresses up all that goodness brewing in the inside that eventually overflows out of you for the world to see.  We are not just about “for show” but for “the real” and from the heart.

I am constantly improving my wardrobe and recently decided to get rid of things I no longer wear sooner. Holding on to it won’t make me want it more.

Admittedly, I have a much smaller winter wardrobe than my spring and summer. I definitely enjoy the warmer months more and I find spring and summer a lot easier to shop for. Designs are colorful, lightweight, sleek  and priced more reasonably. Winter wear is of course bulky, more expensive and less colorful. However, this winter was the begining of me making a better effort to step up my winter styling a couple of notches.

I shopped for gloves, trendy sweaters, and new hand bags, (the secret to a poppin winter look).

Since I live in Georgia, I really don’t need to change shoes much to accommodate the snow. But I invested in a couple pair of rain boots as my all purpose winter shoe wear for the few days it may snow or when we travel where snow is common.

In this look, I added an oversized GAP sporty turtleneck to a pair of distressed jeans. These sleek satin pom pom pumps are the perfect contrast to make this look a complete ensemble.  I went back and forth on the color wheel to balance the colors. I really loved how the green rhinosirous purse contrasted with the camel gloves and both against the casual jeans and top.

I am committed to keeping this momentum to improve and grow my winter wardrobe. Favorite season or not, I feel absolutely awesome when i’m cozy and turning heads in the winter.
