The Best Matcha Tea Shake

Shakes are a primary food group for my daughter and me. They became a staple when my daughter started eating solid foods as a baby. She decided she would only take fresh mommy milk at that time. So I needed something to supplement her diet to give me some space from nursing around the clock.

Lately, I struggled to get her to eat veggies. After speaking to her doctor about it, she suggested going back to supplementing with shakes. Blended shakes are a good way to not only slip in good nutrients without a fuss, but they also develop an appetite for all those natural goodies that her body desperately needs.

I always add organic greens of some sort. For this recipe, I choose matcha tea as my green of choice. It has a nice bite and balance out the delicacy of the other ingredients. Honestly, I slipped in a few kale leaves to keep moving her taste bud meter without overpowering her keen senses (shhhhhh :))

This recipe is dairy free, gluten free and worry free. There is no hidden gluten in any of the ingredients since all are from the source-nature. Moreover, you don’t have to worry if your little ones will like it. So freedom reigns!!!

I substituted dairy with coconut milk. You could also try other nut milks like almond and cashew.

Chunks of frozen pineapples, and ripe mangos gave that sweet touch, eliminating the need for additional sweeteners.

I am always amazed at what ginger does to any dish, and I rarely make a shake without a good helping of it. Ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties while adding a full body flavor to the sweet and tartness of the pineapples and mangos.

If you are struggling to get natures goodies into your little one’s diet, or you want to boost the family’s nutrition intake, try supplementing meals with whole all natural shakes of any combination.

Healthy toppings like granola, chia seeds and coconut flakes can fill shakes out to be great for any meal. They can be heavy enough for breakfast and light enough for dinner.

Matcha Green Tea Tropical Smoothie

  • 2 cups of frozen pineapple chunks
  • ½ teaspoon of ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of organic matcha tea
  • garnish: coconut flakes and chia seeds. Try granola toppings for breakfast or for a crunchy desert version.

Peel fruits and ginger. Combine in a blender with matcha green tea and milk until smooth. Don’t over process. Add garnish and toppings.
