Face wash // Astringent // Other recommended skin care products

Use clean beauty products:

Avoid products that do not point out “no artificial colors, no paragons, or harsh sulfates.” Be intentional about what you are absorbing into your skin. Your body may react to harmful chemicals marketed as “good for you.” Read the ingredients. And as a rule of thumb, if the list of ingredients is too long and hard to pronounce, don’t buy it. Below are a few brands I trust and enjoy. Regardless, read the labels.

Thoroughly remove makeup

Everyone knows this one, but I’ll say it again. Thoroughly remove all makeup before going to bed. Even after I remove my makeup with makeup wipes, then a good cleanser, I like to follow up with a toner, witch hazel, or astringent. Sometimes soap does not remove all layers of grime or get deep into the skin pores.

Drink lots of water

Water is a baseline for overall good health. So drink lots of it. Ideally, you should drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water every day. To help me keep on track, I purchased a 40-ounce stainless steel water bottle and aim to refill it twice daily. However, I am very particular about my water. I avoid water in plastic bottles. And I filter 90% of the water I drink to remove lead and other toxins

Reduce your sugar intake

Sugar is notorious for triggering inflammation and lowering your immunity. It is known to destroy collagen and increases acne. Sugar intake includes gluten found in baked goods.

Use vitamins A, C, and E

This vitamin trio is essential for antiaging skincare. I recently added vitamin A to my skincare regimen. Refer back to number one and get the purest supplements possible. So again, read the ingredients.

Exercise regularly

Exercise gets the blood circulating throughout your body increasing oxygen and nutrients to the skin, which is great for collagen production and releases internal toxins. Brisk walks in your neighborhood, jumping rope or playing kickball with the kids all counts.

Ingest probiotics

Probiotics are powerful and should be listed right under breathing air. The majority of our immune system is in the gut, and gut health can often be seen in the skin. Heal your gut, heal your skin. Yes, probiotic supplements can be pricy, but they are necessary. A natural alternative is homemade fermented cabbage.
