Becoming financially empowered while single is the best decision I could make during that time. I believe it’s every woman’s responsibility to take charge of her financial well-being.
Whether single or booed up women should be financially empowered and feel good about it. When women have money and good money sense, equal ground is established within a relationship.
An unrealistic dream
After my divorce, I remember imagining how perfect my life would be if I married the most amazing man alive. Aside from being tall, dark, and handsome, he would willingly tackle my honey-do list without me asking twice. Most importantly, he would insist on carrying 100% of the bills and all the family’s financial responsibilities, so I would not have to.

Reality check
To say the least, this idea is so unrealistic and very unfair to any man I choose as a spouse. Nevertheless, that was how much I DID NOT want to manage my finances and a household alone. Being without a companion, a single mom, and working was not my thing. I felt tired, and preferred to do what I do BEST, be creative and at home.
A higher calling

The surrender
I eventually stopped complaining about my 9-5 and embraced career opportunities. I developed in leadership and expanded my skill set.
Now that I am in a serious relationship, I realize how much the decision to take charge of my money matter helped my confidence and empowered me.
I’m not just a hot mamma looking for a man to provide for me and my daughter. But I can treat my man to dinner if I choose to. And WE can plan a financial future together on equal grounds. That’s Amazing!
That is what God wanted me to understand about myself. He wanted me to grasp how valuable I am and how He needs me strong and capable in all areas of life.
The confidence and boldness to stand on my own two feet financially are what EVERY woman needs. Women should never fear being kicked out or dismissed for not complying with the breadwinner’s rules. You bring something to the table, and you both should know it.
You deserve financial empowerment and freedom for yourself and a health relationship.
